About

Timmy Global Health at Wayne State University is a student-led chapter of the Indianapolis-based nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to healthcare while empowering students to address global health inequities through service, education, and partnership. We believe that everyone—regardless of where they live or the resources they have—deserves access to high-quality healthcare. Timmy works toward this vision by strengthening local health systems through sustainable partnerships, short-term medical service experiences, and long-term community-driven health initiatives.

The Wayne State chapter was founded by siblings Sergio and Tannia Rodriguez, who shared a passion for health equity and believed that access to healthcare is a fundamental human right. They created the organization to provide Wayne State students with meaningful opportunities to engage in global health, develop as culturally responsive healthcare professionals, and serve communities both locally and abroad.

What began as a grassroots initiative has grown into an international organization supporting community-based projects in the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, and Nigeria. Through our partnership with Banelino, the Wayne State chapter proudly supports communities in the Dominican Republic while fostering sustainable relationships that promote health, education, and lasting impact.
